HWA Announces New Awards!

6 January 2017 By Editor

The Historical Writers’ Association has announced that they will be awarding two new Crown awards to outstanding historical writers in 2017, alongside the already established HWA Debut Crown.

The HWA Endeavour Ink Gold Crown will be awarded to the best historical novel of the year, and the HWA Non-fiction Crown is for the best popular non-fiction historical work.

These two new awards will join with the HWA Debut Crown to form a stellar collection of prizes to promote great historical writing from new and established authors, and celebrate our engagement with narratives of the past.

The Gold Crown will be sponsored by Endeavour Ink, and the search for sponsors for both the Debut and the Non-fiction Crowns has begun, as well as for the events and outreach work we plan to celebrate the shortlisted books for all three prizes.

The Crowns will reward books published between 1st January 2016 and 31st March 2017, and each carries a £1000 award.

Longlist announced: 29th June 2017
Shortlist announced: 13th July 2017
Winner announced: Close of October 2017

The winners will be crowned at a ceremony in London in Autumn 2017.
