Historia giveaway: the 2022 HWA Debut Crown Award shortlist

The 2023 HWA Crown Awards are now open for entry! Details are at the bottom of this page and full information is on the HWA website.

To celebrate, Historia is giving away all six books shortlisted for the Debut Crown Award in 2022.

Two winners will each receive:

Moonlight and the Pearler’s Daughter by Lizzie Pook
The Deception of Harriet Fleet by Helen Scarlett
Hear No Evil by Sarah Smith
The Plague Letters by VL Valentine
The Spirit Engineer by AJ West

The giveaway is open until 11.59pm on 7 March, 2023.

The 2023 HWA Crown Awards

Authors and publishers of historical fiction and non-fiction, entries are now open for the 2023 HWA Crown Awards.

The HWA Crown Awards celebrate the best in historical writing. There are three categories: Gold (best fiction), Debut and Non-fiction.

This year’s awards are open to full-length books published for the first time in English in the UK between 1 April, 2022, and 31 March, 2023. For fiction, the bulk of the story must be set at least 35 years before publication, while for non-fiction, the key events must have occurred least 35 years beforehand.
